No Regret, No Buffalo, Yes House

I picked up 2 albums this past week that I’ve been listening to. The first one is Blacktop Mourning’s freshman release “No Regret”, which I’ve been looking forward too for a while now. It’s the first album release from Adam Duritz’s label Tyranasourus Records and it’s a pretty solid one. It doesn’t make you say “OMG I love it”, but it has a lot of good music on it and there’s some catchy tracks. Max’s guitar playing isn’t featured as much as I’d like but it’s there at times when it needs to be. His lyrics need to come along, but the guy’s only 18. He’ll get better with it, so i’m very much looking forward to their 2nd release already just because I know it’ll keep getting better. Very much worth the pick up.

The 2nd album came in limited edition colored vinyl, and it’s Omar Rodriguez Lopez’s solo side project album “Sie Dice Bisone, No Buffalo”. For those who don’t know, Omar is the guy from the Mars Volta, and this album does not disappoint at all. It’s a mix of insturmental and vocal pieces, and for someone who claims to know nothing of music theory, Omar is pushing a lot of things to the limits. The result is an awesome experimental/psychedelic album that will sounds more like The Mars Volta meets Frank Zappa. It’s beautiful. Not out on CD yet, but will be later this month. Pick it up when it hits, because this one’s easily one of the best I’ve heard for this year.

House update: the inspection went well, no surprises. We’re moving forward and once the appraisal is said and done with the house will be ours. I’m uber excited :)
